I'm doing Brazilian RW FB and bridge for the first time. Do any folks pore fill or just leave it natural? I was thinking that applying the black oil-based stuff in order to smooth it out but wondered how it would stand up without being finished. TIA>

The only thing I would apply to the F.B. is some of StewMac's Top secret f.b. treatment oil. As for the Bridge I F.P. most of my guitars so I would probably F.P. it.

p.s. I wouldn't go near any pore filler of any kind.Dave-SKG38724.8650347222

JJ I would just sand and buff. BRW polishes beautifully.

JJ--Ditto what everyone else said.
Are you putting these on the WFB? 'Cuz I think that would look really nice together.

Thanks, guys. This is the first bridge I've made from scratch and I want to make it special. I built John How's jig and managed to get a primo piece of BRW shaped, slotted and drilled perfectly. I just finished the final touches... sanded up to 600 grit and buffed it through extra fine Menzerna. I was a little bothered by the exposed pores and thought I'd ask before I did something stupid.

Yes, Steve, it's all part of the WFB SJ I'm working on. The humidity is still lower than I'd like so I'm working on solid parts (neck, bridge and jigs) that don't require gluing. Patience is my only option for now.

Can I just ditto the other comments I've built with 20+ BRW FB and bridges (now sadly run out of the FBs ) I have never put anything on either FB or bridge, just elbow grease. They then develop a fabulous patina over time. I've now switched to Madagascan FBs and am very hopeful.
